Pastor

Rev Dr. “Roger” Weisner is a native of Davidson County, NC graduating from North Davidson Senior High in Welcome NC, NC State University (BA in Geology), Oral Roberts University (Master in Theology), and Doctor of Ministry from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury NC.  As United Methodist Elder, he has served in four appointments for a total of 21 years in ministry after serving in US Air Force for eight years, Davidson County Substance Counselor for two years, and six years in NC Criminal Justice serving as a Community Service Coordinator.

His skills set include mentoring, coaching, interim minister, conflict management, Spiritual Director, and empowering people to discover their gifts and talents.  He recently completed a 2-year program in Spiritual Direction at Haden Institute in Hendersonville NC and is currently enrolled in a two-year program in Jungian Dream Analysis.

Roger has been married for 41 years to Cindy.  They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.  Hobbies include farming, camping, and reading.  His mantra for ministry is “equipping the saints for the work of ministry” Ephesians 4:12.

Gail Price began serving here in 2003 as organist/accompanist, adding “music director” to her responsibilities in May, 2005. In 2007, she accepted the Administrative Assistant position also.

A native of North Carolina, Gail is a graduate of Asheville High School and Mars Hill College (B.M.E., music education). Married to Carl, she has a son and step-son, four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She is a former member of the Smoky Mountain Brass Band (trumpet) and a group called the “Solid Brass Belles,” a women’s brass quartet.

Steve VanReenen began serving as our church treasurer in January, 2008. He oversees administration of the church’s finances along with the Finance Committee. He is married to Diane and they have three daughters; Kandice, Katlyn and Taylor.

Youth

Jeremy Morris, Youth Pastor, and His Wife, Laura

Jeremy was born and raised in Black Mountain where he resides with his wife, Laura.  He went to Pfeiffer University and majored in Religion and then received his M.Div from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.  They have two dogs, Blake and Colby, and love to spend their free time reading, riding mountain bikes, trail running, and pulling their trusty pop-up camper named “The Pop-Mahal”, around the mountains in the quest for the “holy Trail”!
