Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
The Children’s Ministry at WUMC is designed to teach our children how to live a life of faith, the importance of prayer and God’s Word. They are encouraged to bring their Bible’s to Sunday School so that they can learn how to navigate their way through scriptures at an early age. There is a special time set aside during the worship services for the children to hear a condensed sermon in a way they can better understand.
Not only do we teach our children the importance of growing in our church, but growing our church as well. Church should not end when Sunday School or Worship ends; it should continue with us all out the doors and into the community. The children are encouraged to bring friends to Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and we also teach them how to talk about their faith with their friends.
One of our outreach ministries is called L.I.F.E., which stands for “living in faith everyday.” L.I.F.E. is an after school program that is held in the old fellowship hall below the sanctuary. It is held every Wednesday after school from 2:30 to 5:00pm and is offered for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. Here, they have an opportunity to play games, hear a Bible story, have snack, make crafts, watch movies, and do more fun activities! The program does not continue during the summer months while the children are out of school, but there are organized group activities every other week during that time.
